Theresa May’s plan for Grenfell Tower victims LEAKED – her priorities revealed
A LETTER outlining Theresa May’s plan for the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire has been

leaked. Mrs May’s letter said a task force agreed yesterday “a number of actions that the Government will take”. The first priority, Mrs May said, was to ensure victims “are cared

for and receive the support they need”.  This means rehousing those who have lost their

homes, ideally keeping families “as close as practically possible to where they previously lived”.She said a £5 million fund would be made immediately available, while financial

assistance would be given to ensure additional costs for families are paid for. Extra staff have also been supplied to Kensington and Chelsea borough by the Government. The letter also highlighted the importance of making sure people living in high-rise residential blocks similar to Grenfell Tower are re-assured.This involves “checking at speed” all buildings comply with fire orders and conducting thorough safety reviews. After this she said it was vital to hold a “full public inquiry”, making full use of the views of residents and survivors. She concluded: “This tragedy has united us all in grief. “As Prime Minister it is my job to make sure the Government is doing all it can’t o help those affected and that we learn the necessary lessons so this never happens again. “I am determined that we will rise to this challenge.”
